NPD analyst Mat Piscatella has posted sales data in the US for May, 2021, and the results are impressive for a couple of the newer releases. Resident Evil Village was the biggest new release of the month, of course, and it was also the best-selling game of the month in the region. Not only did it have the best launch month sales for any 2021 game, it has also become the second best selling 2021 game in the US to date.

Another big relief was Mass Effect: Mythical Edition, which has debuted in second place, while THQ Nordic’s Experiment 101 and open-world action RPG Biomutant debuted in the sixteenth position. Interestingly, Days Gone, its recently released PC, rejoined the charts at No. 21, with sales driven by its PC launch.

In terms of hardware, once again, the Nintendo Switch was the best-selling console of the month in the US, and it also remains the best-selling console in the US for all of 2021 to date. You can check out more details and May 2021’s top 20 charts below.
