The Deny series has emerged over the past few years to become one of Square Enix’s most unlikely franchises. Although we don’t know what the future of that series will look like at present, it seems that some of the team are behind it, including Deny Original Creator and Director Yoko Taro has another RPG for us in the meantime. And well, that’s not exactly what you expect.
Published today via the Nintendo Direct and from Square Enix, the game is Voice of Cards: Roaring the Island Dragon. It’s an RPG that follows three characters: a heroic main character, a monster attached to him for unknown reasons, and a witch seeking revenge, as they embark on a mission to kill a woke Dragon. The set itself doesn’t sound too outlandish, but this particular adventure is told entirely through cards. Everything from plot combat to character interaction will be told through cards. The game seems to have no direct connection to the NieR / Drakengard series, but it seems it will Denythemed cards that you can download for free for a limited time.
Voice of Cards: Roaring the Island Dragon launches on October 28th for PlayStation 4, Switch and PC. There is also a demo now available for you to try.
