Enix’s Square Final Fantasy 16 it has not made an appearance since its release last year and unfortunately, no trailer or new announcements were made at Tokyo Game Show 2021. However, producer Naoki Yoshida – who was present on the live stream with Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi – offered to update. The first indicated that the main scenario was currently complete with side quests currently under development and nearing completion.
The character models are also nearing completion and the development team is currently polishing the overall quality. Yoshida also revealed that the main scenario was supposed to be produced with a small team to begin with. It was only until plans were completed that the size of the team increased and over the (long stated) production period, there was a great deal of trial and error.
Nevertheless, Yoshida felt it was important to start with a small team and then slowly expand. Final Fantasy 16 under development for PS5 (although PC version is also under development). Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
