There’s a quacking mad battler on the market, inspired by the classic Bomberman games, that’s looking to grab your attention. Get ready for some duck-on-duck action as Ponpu finally launches on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, bringing chaos and destruction for solo sessions as well as multiplayer parties.
Unlike many multiplayer games, Ponpu actually has a dedicated single-player story mode to delve into, with a proper narrative apparently. You see, time has run out for the world within because the all-seeing Duck God has decided so. As his harbinger of sorts, a Ponpu, you’ll oversee the divine destruction that’s about to take place. That is until a nasty blow to the head causes memory loss and now you find yourself working against the mighty Duck God. Take him on, as well as your fellow Ponpu and numerous bosses, through 10 challenging areas consisting of carnage-fueled battles. It’s sure to take every eggs-plosive in your arsenal if you’re to save the very world you’re meant to destroy.
Outside of the story offering, there are three frenetic and fun multiplayer modes available for up to four players to enjoy locally or online. In Coin Chase, the aim is to snag coins before your opponents do and possess the most by the end, while Color Fight wants you to use attacks to spread paint throughout the level. And then there’s Team Deathmatch, where teams will go at it to garner a lot of kills.
Whichever way you plan to bomb, kill, and dominate in Ponpu, you’re going to have to purchase it first from the Xbox Store for £12.49. If you’re unsure about a purchase, check out our full review beforehand and then make up your mind. Feel free to leave a comment below and share your thoughts about Ponpu!
