When Mario Golf: Super Rush launched earlier this year, one of the biggest criticisms raised in the game was its lack of content. Nintendo has been working on rectifying that issue with a number of free post-launch updates that have been adding new courses and new characters to the game, and now, we have another one of those.

This update, incidentally, is the last free update the game will receive, albeit a pretty meaty one. It adds two new characters with Wiggler and Shy Guy, two new golf courses with Shelltop Sanctuary and All-Star Summit, and finally, two new modes with Target Golf – which allow players to play with just shots, without the need to know the exact rules of golf – and One-On, One-Putt – where players have to hit the grille on the first swing and then put into the cup on the second swing. In the meantime, a number of bug fixes and balancing adjustments are also arriving with the update. You can read the full patch notes below.

Added a Playable Character, “Wiggler”

  • Wiggler was added as a playable character that can be played in games. He is a power type character who uses his long body to send the ball further.
  • When he uses or attacks a Special Shot, he becomes irritable and in power for a set period of time:
      • Ball flight distance increases 1.1 times.
      • In “Speed ​​Golf”, in addition to distance, the running speed and Special Dash speed will be improved 1.25 times. In addition, the Special Dash will change from a straight shot to a special shot that hits the ground and sends out shock waves.
  • The effect of his Special Shot is to blow balls away from his point of impact, as well as the surrounding area, due to the effect of the berries being launched with him.

Added Playable Character, “Shy Guy”

  • Shy Guy was added as a playable character to choose from in Matches. He is a well-rounded, well-rounded character who is easy to use in any situation.
  • His Special Dash uses the help of the Fly Guys to keep him flying until his meter runs out, or a button is pressed. Use it at the right time to gain advantage over your opponent.
  • The effect of his Special Shot is to blow balls away around his point of impact.

Added Golf Course, “Sanctuary Shelltop”

  • Added the full course “Sanctuary Shelltop”, made entirely of short holes.
  • Shelltop Sanctuary, where Cheep Cheeps fly back and forth, is a short course with all of its 18 holes at Par 3.
  • Two difficulty levels can be chosen: “Amateur”, and “Pro”. Switching between them will greatly change the position of the green.

Added Golf Course, “All-Star Summit”

  • Added the full “All-Star Summit” course, which uses pictures of Mario and others as a motif.
  • This course features familiar characters, and the design of the green and bunkers is different from other courses, so you can enjoy employing a different kind of strategy.
  • The flowing brick blocks can be broken throughout the course by hitting them with a shot, or a special dash. Break them to acquire coins that replenish your Energy.
  • Get on top of the clouds found on the course to travel to opposite banks, or acquire Star Coins to fully charge your Energy.

Added a New Mode, “Target Golf”

  • A new mode that allows you to play with just shots, without the need to know the precise rules of golf.
  • Players take turns shooting a total of five balls on a recurring target, competing for the highest score based on points awarded according to the position they hit. The closer the ball is to the center of the target, the higher the score. If another player scores in an area first, however, the area will not be scored until the board resets. During play, ball types can change, and high-scoring targets appear to offer the opportunity for reversal.
  • In the Play Golf menu, you can play against four other players with one Joy-Con on one Nintendo Switch. You can also play against four other players in Local Play and Online Play.
  • * Can be played with Motion Controls.
  • In the Challenge Solo menu, you can also play Challenge Score’s single player challenge content, Target Golf. The challenge is to see how many points you can score before you fail three times, while the ball type and wind direction change.

Added New Mode, “One-On, One-Putt”

  • One-On, One-Putt has been added to the Score Solo Challenge, a mode where you have to hit the grille on the first swing and then place it in the cup on the second swing. The first shot must be on the green and the second shot must be in the cup.
  • You can play this mode on New Donk City and Shelltop Sanctuary, which consist of short courses only, in Amateur and Pro configurations, respectively. At Shelltop Sanctuary, there is a Special difficulty level that requires you to use a special club for each hole.

Game Balance Adjustments

  • Change the amount of Gauge Energy recovered on receipt of coins from 1% to 4%.
  • Adjusts the number of coins dropping around you when attacked.
  • When attacking another player with Special Dash, the coins dropped by the opponent will now be automatically collected.
  • The use of stamina in rushing with the B button has been reduced.
  • When Stamina is completely depleted and the B button is held down, after a set period of time, Stamina will recover and the player can start rushing again, even if the B button gets hold it down continuously.
  • CPUs are now more focused on collecting the Money and Hearts on the course than before.
  • CPUs will now target Special Shots and Special Dashes at other players more than before.


  • Medals are now displayed on the Main Menu, allowing you to check that you have completed challenges and achievements.
  • A guide explaining how to play will now display each time you start using Motion Controls.
  • Spin will no longer be added after Pin Shots, and Flag Shots.
  • Adjust the position of some of the trash cans and benches New Donk City.
  • Fixed a problem where the Wario Special Dash would sometimes hit an invisible wall above other players while in the air.
  • Fixed extra issues to improve playability and game balance.
