The Japanese developer recently announced CyberConnect2 Dragon Dance Z: Kakarot, their RPG takes on the Dragon Dance Z. saga, has sold 4.5 million units since its launch. It shows the strength of the Dragon Dance franchise and the ongoing support the series is enjoying, thanks to the new Dragon’s Super Ball and enduring longing for one of the most popular shonen anime ever.
As reported by Gematsu, the announcement was made in a Livestream to commemorate the new year by the company (which you can watch below, albeit in Japanese). The announcement was made by CyberConnect2’s CEO, Hiroshi Matsuya, while also highlighting sales for their other anime-based action games, like 2021’s Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles with over 1.32 million units sold, and 2016’s Naruto Shippuden: Storm Ninja Ultimate 4 managed to sell over 8.7 million.
Regardless, it’s great to see that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s perform well even in the current year, as the game is still a great way to experience the Dragon Dance Z. a saga without skimming through hundreds of chapters. All the numbers are honestly not too shocking, because back in 2020, Bandai Namco Entertainment announced that the game had sold 2 million units worldwide. Looking at it, fans and newcomers warmed up the idea of an RPG set in the Dragon Dance Z. universe, as the 4.5 million sales prove.
Dragon Dance Z: Kakarot available for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Google Stadia.
