Although there are standard missions across the Rainbow Six extraction four locations will suffice for new players, and some end-of-game content too. In a new deep dive video, Ubisoft has outlined the Maelstrom Protocol, a mode that sees players tackle nine consecutive objectives with the difficulty slowly increasing over time.

As well as having only a select number of Operators to choose from, the means will begin to limit someone’s resources such as ammo boxes the further they investigate. Of course, tons of Arctic enemies can also be expected so bringing in your top-level Executives is essential. It is worth noting that the Maelstrom Protocol changes weekly. This allows perfecting one’s run over a week while looking forward to a new challenge next week.

The more objectives completed in one run, the more XP accumulated by Operators. However, players can also unlock seasonal make-up to show their status. Rainbow Extraction Six out on January 20th for Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, PC and Google Stadia. It will also launch day one on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.
