Although the first developer diary for Owlcat Games’ Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader focuses on the location, allies, and choices, the latest is about the profession itself. What does it mean to be a Rogue Trader? Find out below.
Located in the Koronus Expanse, far from the armies and fleets of the Imperium, the region is largely unexplored. It’s still dangerous, though, with heretics, Xenos and monsters. Auditing falls on the Rogue Traders, who have been given “all but unlimited rights and privileges.” Establishing colonies and rediscovering lost civilizations is one thing but the player character has the added benefit of deciding their path.
As you journey on, there are mysteries to solve, treasures to discover and even worlds to rule over (for the good of you and the Emperor). You also get a void with military forces and thousands of individuals who will establish settlements in the future. It’s dangerous though, considering the planets are rife with radiation, roaming pirates and even Warp travel.
These are just a few things that players will experience as a Rogue Trader, with more to be revealed later. Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader is being developed for consoles and PC. A release window has not been announced, but those who pre-order the Founder’s Pack on PC can access the beta.
