God of War Ragnarok game director Eric Williams says he “wouldn’t count” on the game getting any post-launch DLC.
We’ve known that for a long time God of War Ragnarok will be the last game in the series ‘Norse saga, but although the main theme of the story that began in 2018 title was wrapped, there are still unanswered questions. Many have speculated that the resolution to some of those open threads might come after the launch of the DLC—but as it turns out, it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.
Speaking recently with Kinda Funny, when asked about the same thing, God of War Ragnarok game director Eric Williams said the game may not get an expansion.
“I don’t know, man, that’s a big game,” Williams said. “I think we put everything we got into it, so I’m not counting on it.”
Santa Monica Studio has never been a developer to release add-ons for games after release, so it’s no surprise that they aren’t breaking that pattern and God of War Ragnarok.
What does that mean for the series in the near future? It will be a long wait until the next main line is available God of War game, or we could see the launch of a smaller standalone series as a stopgap going forward, so Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales? Santa Monica Studio says there are many projects in the works, but together Ragnarok just to announce it, we’ll no doubt be hearing more about what’s next for the developer in the near future.
