Microsoft’s acquisition of Call of Duty-maker Activision Blizzard might be in more trouble with FTC’s potential antitrust lawsuit.
With the problems Microsoft is currently facing regarding its acquisition of Activision Blizzard in the UK and EU, the company may soon face problems from America. According to Politicsthe US Federal Trade Commission is likely to file a lawsuit to stop receiving from the king.
It should be noted that the FTC’s lawsuit against the government is not final, as the administration’s four commissioners must vote on the lawsuit and meet with attorneys. Looking at the data and arguments in support of the transaction makes the FTC skeptical, however.
Just like the investigations of the European Commission and the UK’s Competition and Market Authority, the FTC is also concerned about Microsoft gaining an unfair advantage in the gaming market with its acquisition of Activision Blizzard. The FTC itself is not commenting on the matter.
As part of the British investigation into the matter, Sony recently released a 22-page statement with some interesting information, including the implementation of the PlayStation Plus subscription, how bad find for developers and gamers, how Microsoft wants to turn Sony into Nintendo, and even the fact that a PS6 might come after 2027.
