Fantastic’s The Day Before faced another delay. The launch was expected to launch on March 1st, and is now being released on November 10th. It is said to be due to a trademark dispute recently discovered by the development team.

“Right before release, Steam blocked our game page at the request of a private individual, due to the name ‘The Day Before.’ As you know, our game was announced in January 2021. At the time of the announcement, the ‘The Day BeforeA game trademark was available. After the announcement, the above individual filled out an application before us to register the game’s trademark ‘The Day Before‘ in the United States. ” The trademark in question can be seen here.

The developer claims it was unaware of the claims and only found out on January 19th when it received a complaint from the individual and asked to contact them. A lengthy gameplay video was due to be released at the end of January, but Fntastic has to consult with lawyers first. Despite the delay, the developer assures “Our 100 percent focus remains on the game itself and how to provide you with the best possible game.”

The Day Before scheduled for this past June on PC, with Xbox Series X/S and PS5 versions also confirmed. However, it was delayed until March as the development team moved to Unreal Engine 5. It was recently showcased at Nvidia’s CES 2023 Special Address with features such as Nvidia DLSS 3 and RTX support. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming months.
