Remember Surprise, Bandai Namco’s post-apocalyptic third-person shooter announced at State of Play last year? During the Surprise Stage Event at AnimeJapan 2023, the publisher announced the official name to be Surprise: Echo of Ada.
There is no new game, but it is still launching this year for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. The “Echo of Ada” part of the name comes from the artificial intelligence, or Magus, ADA, who accompanies Alba Kuze, the main character, in her Coffin Cradle. Following the destruction of the world in 2222, players must collect AO Crystals to help power the city of Amasia.
Various Enders will try to stop you, leading to a confrontation. However, there is also an element of PvEvP, with other players present on the battlefield. You can either work with them (especially if a giant Ender shows up) or fight for resources, not unlike The Department Dark Zone Stages.
Stay tuned for more details and gameplay in the coming months. In the meantime, check out some of the concept art from Tokyo Game Show 2022.
