A known leaker has claimed that Ubisoft’s turn-based tactics title Mario _ Rabbids Sparks of Hope might not hit its 2022 launch window.

In a largely unchanged top 10, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, FIFA 22, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons have all retained their top 3 positions.

Industry analyst Dr. Serkan Toto says a new mainline Mario Kart game is in active development, and could be announced this year.

FIFA 22 took the top spot in 2021’s final weekly UK retail chart, while Mario Kart 8 Deluxe climbed to No. 1 for the first chart of 2022.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Call of Duty: Vanguard take second and third place respectively. There are no new releases in the top 10.

The original Paper Mario, which released for the N64 in 2001, will be added to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass library next week.

Black Friday deals saw Mario Kart 8 Deluxe enjoying a whopping 567% boost in sales over last week, jumping up from No. 7 to the very top.

Mario Party Superstars and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy also debut in the top 10, while the Switch dominates the hardware side of things.

There’s no telling when we’ll see the next mainline 3D Super Mario game, but Nintendo veteran Shigeru Miyamoto knows expectations will be high.

Meanwhile, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales saw increased sales thanks to strong Nintendo Switch and PS5 sales.

Nintendo has also provided updated sales figures for Mario Golf: Super Rush and New Pokemon Snap.

Mario Party Superstars debuted in third place with six percent lower sales than Super Mario Party. Ubisoft’s Riders Republic debuted in eighth.
